Biography
I
am an Advanced Skills Teacher in Art and Design, with nearly 30 years
experience as an artist, designer and teacher of art at Primary and Secondary
School level in the North East of England. I was a Head of Department
in a Specialist School for the Arts for seven years.
I produced the Visual Arts in Schools guide for Redcar Borough Council and have lectured at the University of Warwick in Art and ICT for the Specialist Schools Trust.
I am also a professional designer and commercial artist and have worked for major clients. I'm passionate about the use of ICT in the classroom and using ICT to improve learning and works as a consultant to schools on VLE and online learning.
The content of these pages are based on my own research, ideas, thoughts and practical experience. It is not intended that these pages should be used as a direct, literal instruction in how to teach art. It is simply intended to share the knowledge and experience that I have gained in teaching art with fellow art teachers. This site also represent the many books, web sites and journals that I have read and interpreted over the years. It would be impossible for me to remember every source of inspiration and influence I have had and give appropriate credit.
